I want to give this all time to be digested and reread before a substantive comment - but it's too significant of a letter for me to feel ok reading and giving it a heart but no comment in this immediate time after I read it for the first time. Wow. Woah. So much to learn and feel in these words of yours, Thank you for sharing.

Heather, as always I'm so touched by the kindness and support in your comments, but for you to call this one in particular "significant" means so very much. Thank you, my friend.

Dear Jessi,

I've loved reading this essay.

I love the nuance in your choice of word.

As I do my own walk with Permission this year, I'm also exploring the idea of allowing myself to show up...which will hopefully mean more sharing and less hiding.

Now rereading your words, and I'm struck again by this:

'In order to show up as a performer and a writer, though, I have to show up as a person.'

My ability to show up as a person is also contingent on a certain amount of physical support, and I look forward to exploring the parallel space I am in.

Thank you for being part of my life.

Hugs,

Casey

Dear Casey,

Thank you so much for this thoughtful and thought-provoking comment.

I LOVE the layers in your choice of "Permission" and I will be gently cheering you on in showing up and sharing.

I am particularly touched that the contigent nature of needing support resonates with you and I'm sending solidarity in navigating the nuances of that dynamic.

I am likewise extremely grateful that you are part of my life, and privileged to get to be part of yours.

Hugs

Jessi

Such a fascinating piece, Jessi. I love reading anything you've written and I always learn so much from you. Shall we make this the month that we book a date for that long overdue catch-up via phone or video call? Look forward to hearing from you sometime when it works for you. Sending you a very happy new year and much love. Alex x

What a brilliant and resonant word for the year Jessi. Like others have written, there is much to digest here but wanted to respond immediately on reading to acknowledge what a cracker of a bit of writing this is. 2026 is here! Xx

Oh, lovely Tilly, you're a gem. Thank you! It means so much that this resonates with you and I'm truly humbled that you call it "a cracker bit of writing". I genuinely worried it was an incoherent waffle and far too lengthy. Wishing you many spoons and sending much solidarity for 2026 xx
