Still Landing
On physicality, politics and processing
Hullo my lovely readers
Following last week’s letter about “landing”, this is another short note to say that I’m still in that state.
Physically, due to the flight but also ironically unrelated issues with my chair (yes, we are revisiting themes from much earlier editions of this newsletter) and a subsequent shoulder strain, but emotionally too, thanks to the current political climate around disability in the UK1 alongside everything else going on in the world.
So, as this has been Neurodiversity Celebration Week (the complexities of which you can read about in eloquent essays by Dr Emily Garside and Charli Clement), I’m giving further grace to my neurodivergent brain and taking a bit more time to regroup.
Hopefully that’s understandable, thank you for reading, and love and solidarity until next week,
Jx
PS No images this week, as I couldn’t settle on an appropriate photo and I haven’t got spoons to draw.
Particular solidarity with other deaf, disabled and neurodivergent folks – and gratitude to those of you, as well as non-disabled allies, who have been able to go to the protests around the country. If you would like further information about events you can follow activist groups like Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC), started in 2010 in response to the Tories and now organising in response to Labour, and Crips Against Cuts.

🧡🧡
The world, and life, individually and collectively is indeed a lot currently. Take care of you, my friend.
